FAQ
How accurate is the word count?
Words are counted by splitting on whitespace, the same approach Microsoft Word and Google Docs use. Counts match those tools within ±1 in almost all cases.
Are sentences counted accurately?
Sentences are detected by '.', '!', and '?'. Abbreviations like 'Mr.' or 'e.g.' will inflate the count slightly — this is a limitation of every word counter.
How is reading time calculated?
We divide the word count by 225 words per minute (the average adult silent reading speed). Speaking time uses 150 wpm, a comfortable presentation pace.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The counter runs entirely in your browser — your text is never sent to any server.
Is there a character limit?
No hard limit, but very long documents (100k+ words) may slow your browser. For huge files, paste in sections.
