How to use Blood Type Calculator

  1. 1. Select parent blood types. Choose the blood type (A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, AB-, O+, O-) for each parent from the dropdowns.
  2. 2. View possible child types. The calculator instantly shows all possible blood types a child could inherit, with probability percentages.
  3. 3. Check donation compatibility. Scroll down to see the universal blood type donation chart showing who can donate to whom.

FAQ

How accurate is this calculator?

It uses standard Mendelian genetics with ABO and Rh factor inheritance. Since we cannot know the exact genotype of a parent from phenotype alone (e.g. A could be AA or AO), all possible genotype combinations are considered equally likely.

Why are there multiple possible blood types for a child?

Blood type is determined by alleles inherited from both parents. Since parents may carry recessive alleles (like O or Rh-negative), children can end up with different blood types than their parents.

What does Rh factor mean?

Rh factor refers to the presence (+) or absence (-) of the RhD antigen on red blood cells. Rh-positive means the antigen is present; Rh-negative means it is absent.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All calculations run entirely in your browser.
