How to use Pomodoro Timer

  1. 1. Choose a mode. Start with Work (25 min), or switch to Short Break (5 min) or Long Break (15 min).
  2. 2. Press Start. The circular timer counts down. A beep plays when the session ends and it auto-advances to the next phase.
  3. 3. Track your progress. Completed pomodoros are shown as filled circles. After 4 work sessions a long break is suggested automatically.

FAQ

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

It's a time-management method by Francesco Cirillo. You work in focused 25-minute blocks ('pomodoros'), separated by short breaks. After four pomodoros you take a longer break.

Can I customize the durations?

Yes — open the Settings panel below the timer and set custom minutes for work, short break, and long break.

Does the timer run in the background?

Yes. The countdown continues even if you switch browser tabs. You'll hear a beep when time is up.

Is my progress saved?

Progress is tracked while the page is open. Refreshing or closing the tab resets your session count and total focus time.

Why does it auto-switch to a break?

Research shows taking regular breaks improves sustained concentration. The timer auto-suggests the right break length so you don't have to think about it.
