FAQ

How is WPM calculated?

WPM is the number of correctly typed characters divided by 5 (the standard 'word' length), then divided by the elapsed time in minutes. This is the universally accepted method used by typing sites.

Can I go back to fix a previous word?

No — once you press space and move to the next word, the previous word is locked in. You can only use backspace to correct the current word.

What words are used in the test?

The test uses a pool of the 200 most common English words, shuffled randomly for each attempt. This mirrors how professional typing tests work.

Does this work on mobile?

It works, but typing tests are really designed for physical keyboards. On-screen keyboards add latency and autocorrect that skew the results.

Is my data saved anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser — no data is sent to a server or stored between sessions.
